Prerequisates and Materials
No pre-course study is required. You will receive a 150 page training manual and other course handouts which are included in the course price. A licensed, loaner copy of the three document standard set, will be provided for your use during the three days. Call or email with your inquiries.

About the Course
In this intensive three-day course, participants develop competence in the foundations of the ISO 31000 risk management standard. Based on in-depth teaching, practical exercises and multiple choice questions that test their aptitude, participants acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to pass the stringent exam. They do so by becoming familiar with the vocabulary, principles, framework and the risk management process proposed in the ISO 31000 standard.
Course Objectives
- To understand the vocabulary, principles, framework and risk management process (including risk assessment) established by the ISO 31000 Risk Management Standard.
- To understand the benefits of ISO 31000 as an internationally-recognized standard adopted by more than 40 countries.
- To acquire the competence to communicate effectively about ISO 31000 with people having different backgrounds and experience in risk management.
Course Content
During the course, we will present the ISO 31000 risk management standard in its entirety, including much of the two companion documents, ISO Guide 73:2009, Risk Management Vocabulary and ISO/IEC 31010:2009, Risk Management and Risk Assessment Techniques. A number of risk assessment techniques and tools will be taught with trainee participation. We will also detail the history of risk management and the ascendancy of ISO 31000 worldwide.
Exam and CE Credits
Comprehensive exam made up of 35 multiple-choice questions, 2 short essay questions and 10 true or false questions. Exam duration: 1.5 hours. Participants who complete this course will receive a Certificate of Attendance from our training organization and 2.4 hours of risk management continuing education credits which are recognized in the actuarial, health and safety, banking, insurance, security fields and others. Attendees who pass the exam will receive a certificate of completion from The Manhattanville Graduate School of Business in Purchase, New York.
